On 30 October, 2006 a new procedure of secondhand car import to Russia came into effect. It’s necessary to obtain Euro-3 certificate – an ecological standard regulating content of harmful substances in emissions of transport vehicles with diesel and gasoline engines.
The main goal is step-by-step improvement of vehicle ecological properties in the territory of Russia.
The procedure relates to all reused vehicles in the territory of the country – from passenger cars to trucks and special equipment. Consequently, the vehicles being in use before introduction of this technical procedure don’t fall within its scope.
Vehicle emission class is indicated in vehicle certificate during registration of imported vehicle based on the data contained in certificate of conformity.
All vehicles produced or imported to Russia from 1 January, 2008, just meet requirements of Euro III standard (from 1 January, 2009 in Kazakhstan).
