ISO is an International Organization for Standartization.
Standards developed by International Organization for Standartization are subdivided into categories:
- ISO 9000:2000 - fundamentals and terminology for Quality Management System;
- ISO 9001:2000 - a set of requirements to Quality Management System, used in certification and audit;
- ISO 9004:2000 - effective recommendations and methodical instructions on development and introduction of Quality Management System;
- ISO 19011:2000 - guiding directions and recommendation on inspection (audit) of Quality management systems and/or Ecological management systems.
Based on this subdivision there are similar functional standards in Russia:
- ISO 9000:2000 - Russian analogue GOST R ISO 9000-2001;
- ISO 9001:2000 - Russian analogue GOST R ISO 9001-2001;
- ISO 9004:2000 - Russian analogue GOST R ISO 9004-2001;
- ISO 19011:2000 - Russian analogue GOST R ISO 19011-2002.
The difference ISO 9000 form ISO 9001.
These standards have much in common. The main difference of GOST-R ISO 9000 certificate is that quality certificate ISO 9001 is valid only within the Russian Federation while quality certificate ISO 9000 is valid all over the world.
What certificate of conformity to Quality Management System to choose?
If an enterprise is planning to enter international markets, certification based on international ISO 9000 standards is more preferable, as a result the enterprise will obtain a certificate of quality ISO 9001.
If an enterprise is nationally oriented it is possible to carry out certification based on GOST R ISO 9000-2001, as a result the enterprise will obtain a certificate of quality ISO 9001.
