Vehicle type approval.
The vehicle type approval is a document confirming the compliance of vehicles with the technical regulations ‘On the safety of wheeled vehicles’ ¹720, approved by the decree of the Government of September 10, 2009.
This approval is the ground for issuing the certificate of title for a vehicle by the STSI and customs authorities to the manufacture (seller) of new vehicles for their further sale or registration.
The Technical regulations ‘On the safety of wheeled vehicles’ cover wheeled vehicles and chassis of L, M, N, O categories, intended for operation on general-purpose highways.
Requirements for vehicles are regulated by the section II of the Technical regulations ‘On the safety of wheeled vehicles’.
The vehicle type approval is a Russian document permitting to import and get customs clearance for load-carrying vehicles of foreign manufacture. And the most important thing is that availability of the vehicle type approval confirms compliance of the car with the All-Union State Standards and the Rules of UNECE that regulate systems parameters influencing the safety of operation with regard to brake systems, hydraulic dump equipment, content of harmful substances in the cabin, internal and external noise produced by the vehicle, installation of lighting and lamp signaling, availability of rightly fastened safety belts.
Assessment of compliance in the form of the type approval is carried out by certification bodies that concluded a cooperation agreement with the technical services carrying out the tests according to the set of the Rules of UNECE in accordance with the Appendix ¹2 to the Technical regulations ‘On the safety of wheeled vehicles’.
